The Finished Product

For a first time effort I'm pretty excited about the end results. We didn't follow my plan, but that's okay. It worked out the way it was supposed to. We'll plan another one again very soon. In the mean time there is a "regular" Solace coming up in a month. That focuses on prayer and journaling after times of worship.

A little over 12 hours...

It's getting closer! I'm a little buzzed and can't sleep. I have signs to hang up out at camp. People will be able to pull up around to the amphitheater. Colin said people could go ahead and drive around since there will be a large group on the camp grounds until 5:30 p.m. I'm praying that the song list and scriptures will help lead people into worship.

A little over 24 hours...

It's a little over 24 hours away. The supplies are being put in order. I'll be checking in at camp later today to make sure we'll have everything we'll need. The forecast calls for clear skies, a high 81, and low wind. It will be shaded by a canopy of trees by 5 p.m. What will happen? What will be on the canvases by the end of the evening? Only the Lord knows. We'll take pictures so those that couldn't make it will see what happened.

Fast Approaching

The time is fast approaching. I'm trying to make sure that I have all that we'll need for the event on Saturday. I'm not sure how many will be there, so it's a little difficult to plan for the amount of paint trays, brushes etc. The weather shouldn't be too hot, and it's down in the shade of the amphitheater. I am hopeful, and excited. I feel a bit like a kid in a candy store. What treasures will we find on Saturday evening?

There is one artist that will not be able to join us, but I wanted to share some of his work with you anyway. (Just a reminder, you don't have to be able to draw or paint to attend this thing!) This is just a couple of examples of how he "journals" during his bible study time.

10 days until...

The time is flying by as we prepare for our first Solace For The Artist's Soul on July 19th. I've added a few links to the sidebar to show you examples of how people are using art in worship. Please leave links to sites that you think would be a good addition to the list I've started. Also, if you have a good resource about art and how it relates to our relationship with God please leave a comment on that too.

First Event Coming Up

The first event of Solace For The Artist's Soul is coming up July 19th. It is a co-ed event and will include various forms of worship. The goal for the evening is to worship the Lord through music, time in the Word and prayer, and then through our art. I have three 12 foot by 3 foot canvases for us to paint. Feel free to bring your own sketch books and art supplies to use too. I would like to be display the finished canvases in the atrium of our church for the church services the following morning.
